【 Introduction 】 Lockheed SR-71 “Blackbird” reconnaissance aircraft (English: Lockheed SR-71, nickname: Blackbird, Chinese: Blackbird) is the United States Air Force jet long range high altitude high speed strategic reconnaissance aircraft. Developed and produced by Lockheed’s Skunk Works, the SR-71 was the first practical jet to successfully break the thermal barrier, using many of the most advanced technologies of the time. No SR-71 has ever been shot down by enemy aircraft or anti-aircraft missiles in the field. A total of 32 SR-71 reconnaissance aircraft were produced. In 1990, the SR-71 was retired; Part of the SR-71 was returned to the Corps in 1995 and began flying missions in 1997. In 1998, the SR-71 was permanently retired and parts of it were placed on museum display, with only one SR-71A and one SR-71B used by NASA Drayton Flight Research Center for research use.
